ABOUT US

On any normal working day at Ramakrishna Mission Boys’ Home, High School Rahara, seeing the glimpse of him walking through the school corridors, the noise, hustle and bustle of the class rooms would fall silent. He epitomized inspiration for us; he was the beacon of hope and trust in our teenage souls in those days of doubt and naivety. To be honest to oneself, not that everything was understood by us at that tender age, but eventually when we grew up, we could fathom the depth of his personality and true trait of his character. He is our respected Sir- Shri Santosh Chandra Bhattacharya. Beloved Santosh Babu, to each of us who are fortunate enough to attend his classes and whose life he has touched with the geometric precision.

Our parents, teachers, school and environment are the stakeholders who played a key role in our upbringing and shaping our character. We are heavily indebted to each of the stakeholders. We, the ex-students of the school, have taken this small and humble effort to come together to form a trust in the memory of our beloved Sir to pay homage to this great soul and remembering his greatness and principles. Our inspiration and strength for starting this initiative is from the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Maa Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and the inheritance of the great institute created by Swami Punyananda Maharaj.

The “Santosh Chandra Bhattacharya Memorial Trust” is registered under The Indian Trusts Act in 2016. The first initiative of the “Santosh Chandra Bhattacharya Memorial Trust” was to arrange for apparatuses for the school laboratory, followed by providing support to the class eleven orphan students. While we interacted with the students and their guardians what evolved out was a very unfortunate reality. With our limited financial strength and unlimited zeal and willpower we came across the initial bottlenecks and doubts and we are now committed to support 14 students for their education, fooding and boarding expenses for next two years till they pass the class twelve board examination. Our plan is to continue the similar support for the orphan students of the class eleven-twelve in the succeeding years.

To commit something emotionally is easy but to keep the commitment is difficult. But we are confident that “Santosh Chandra Bhattacharya Memorial Trust” will be successful to light the lamp of education and keep it on through these boys who will complete their education and become responsible citizens of this country and society. That will be our true homage to our beloved Sir.
